Of course, some may ask what can 1 day and 1 hour change? The aim of Earth Hour is not so much to reduce our impact on the environment for an hour. It is asking for a long term commitment from people living all over the globe.
So how can you help protect the environment on a daily basis?
- Recycle your rubbish – visit PlanetArk for some useful tips
- Use less power at home or in the office
- Save water when you can by fixing leaks or taking shorter showers

Very good post! We also think that just switching the lights off on March 26, 2011 is not enough. In fact, it could be considered as a symbolic act, rather than real action...
Let's surpass ourselves. Let's try to save energy on a daily basis for an entire year, that is until the Earth Hour 2012.Let's spread the word around using the social media.
Let us take action
I totally agree solar toys! People should think about long term action rather than just swithcing off their lights for one day.
The guides provided on the Earth Hour websites give interesting tips on how to do your part. You should have a look :)
I will be joining neighbours outside for a drinl and nibbles under candlelight - get to know your neighbours and show your support of our wonderful planet
